New visual identity Mauritshuis

Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague offers a world class collection of masterpieces from the Golden Age; the museum’s most famous painting being Vermeer’s Girl with the Pearl Earring.

The 27th of June the extended and completely renovated Mauritshuis will open its doors. Studio Dumbar was honoured with the assignment to design the new visual identity.

Mauritshuis Director Emilie Gordenker about the identity: ‘the new identity expresses the nature of the Mauritshuis; modern but also classical. It underlines the international status of the museum and its collection. The play of 2- and 3 dimensionality in the combination M and h invites you to look further and discover, which symbolizes the experience of visiting the Mauritshuis. The two letters are also a beautiful reference to the monogram used by artists to sign their work in the past.’
